In this post I am going to explain you, How To Calculate Cutting Length Of RECTANGULAR Stirrups at site in very easy steps.

Cutting Length Of RECTANGULAR Stirrups

Here I have Considered a column whose Length is 600 mm and Breadth is 400 mm.
This Column contains 4 Longitudinal Main Bars of 20 mm and a Stirrups of diameter 8 mm.
I have taken 40 mm Clear cover.
Cutting Length Of RECTANGULAR Stirrups
From above figure,
> a = Length of column – 2 x (Clear cover + Half of Stirrups diameter)
      = 600 – 2 x (40 + 4)
      = 600 – 2 x 44
      = 600 – 88
      = 512 mm

> b = Breadth of column  – 2 x (Clear cover + Half of Stirrups diameter)

      = 400 – 2 x (40 + 4)
      = 400 – 2 x 44
      = 400 – 88
      = 312 mm
Formula for Cutting Length of Rectangular Stirrups
= (2 x a) + (2 x b) + Hook length – Bend
= (2 x a) + (2 x b) + (2 x 10 x d) – (5 x 2 x d)
= (2 x 512) + (2 x 312) + (2 x 10 x 8) – (5 x 2 x 8)
= 1728 mm or, 1.728 meter
